Willie MacFarlane was our acting chairman this month as Kevin was studying in America.
Our main agenda item this month was on the Church Development Project. We welcomed Bill Ainsworth and Rachel Charlesworth from the Ainsworth Spark architectural practice and they described the plans they had developed for our scheme in discussion with members of our Church project team. Robin Ramsay and Colin Scott were also present to help the elders understand how the plans for the project had evolved. A note on project costs was circulated to assist the discussion and enable individual components of the project to be costed separately.
The elders agreed unanimously that the plans are excellent and appropriate to bring to the congregation for discussion and decision. Under consideration will be the layout, design and component of the plans and a special Church meeting was agreed to be held on Wednesday 20th July, 2005 at 7.00pm.
The elders also considered a programme of study and, after further details are received, will hope to introduce a study course in the autumn. We also approved continued support to the High School Youth Services where the proposals and format have been altered somewhat from the first concepts.
We approved papers on The Constitution, Church Pastoral Visitors and Church Working Groups to be presented to the Church Quarterly Meeting at the end of June.
