The elders received a working group paper on The Development of Worship and Mission and briefly considered it, with the main points and the group’s thinking being explained. The group will add to the paper and we will discuss it in detail at our meeting on 1st March, before it is discussed at the AGM.
We again considered our Junior Church; it is lacking in new younger leaders and in the number of children attending regularly. Other churches have a similar problem. It is possible that we cannot continue with Junior Church at morning service and the working group will look at this. The “Second Sunday” club is doing well, the youngsters are relating to Stuart and Kay.
Marion Thomson advised us that pulpit supply had has been arranged for this year except for 3 Sundays and that she has handed on duties to Ann Anderson, We are asked to assist Ann and to advise her of duty changes/swaps. We thanked Marion for her work over the past six years.
We heard a request from the Project Group that we, the Elders, lead in reaffirming the congregation’s ownership of the development project and to commitment to participate in it, both financially and in giving time and talents. We want to celebrate our refurbished hall, once the partitions are in place and also to have a day to recommit our financial support, a “Renew Gift Day”. We set up a group to bring ideas and proposals back to our next meeting. We thanked Jean and Robin Ramsay for their efforts in organising the very successful fundraising “Chinese Banquet”.
