ELDERS MONTHLY MEETING NOVEMBER 2007

At our November meeting, we reviewed our study programme, based on Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians and again found the material stimulating, with John Cant’s notes being especially useful. We will continue to share our study material with the congregation.

We looked to prepare for the Mission Partnership Elders Conference meeting in our church on Tuesday 20th November and agreed that we should invite the congregation to join with us on the occasion, to explore our aims and aspirations at this challenging time when the Mission Partnership is to lose two ministers.

We continue to search for new and returning Elders and for a Church Treasurer; it may be that an interim measure can be adopted for a year while we evaluate further options in respect of the treasurer’s position.

We adjusted the Calendar so that not all our meetings will be on Tuesdays, to assist us to have as full attendance as possible at this important time for all of us.

We considered a paper from Assembly “Vision4Life” but concluded that following its programme would diffuse our energy and distract us from the community development and outreach activities we are pursuing; and from our continuing Bible study and prayer. We will, however, look at the material from the proposal and adapt or incorporate it as appropriate into our own work.
