Volunteering in Tynedale is an organisation set up three years ago that works to promote, develop and support volunteering in local communities. It publicises opportunities for volunteering in the Tynedale region by publishing a Guide for Volunteering that has increased the interest in volunteering in that region.
The organisation is now in the process of evaluating the interest for a similar Guide for volunteering in the Ponteland area. Our elders have given their support to the idea. Should the Guide get off the ground, our church will be in it, offering opportunities for volunteers to join the team that runs our TGIF Friday soup and sandwiches lunches and also the team that runs the coffee lounge. At times both teams are a bit stretched to meet the demands on them as the popularity of these community activities grows.
