Our Quarterly September Meeting dealt with several items of both pastoral and practical importance to our fellowship.
Junior Church. Ann Birch reported on the current situation and the thoughts from elders and junior church leaders. We have some ideas on re-engaging the children and of involving parents of families with babies and toddlers. There was a brief discussion with other ideas put forward and we will hear what progress has been made at our next meeting.
Church Development: Project:. Our plans are with the Planning Authority and the Estate Committee for their decisions and we are preparing our submission to Synod which will be sent off by the end of this month.
Committee of Management. Barbara Johnston reported that cleaning and maintenance had been undertaken over the summer and the managers are now drawing up a schedule of major repairs and improvements.
The meeting approved the purchase of an extractor fan for the kitchen at a cost of up to £1,870.00 including VAT and also approved the purchase of a new photocopying machine for the office, costing £4,700.00 including VAT.
Youth Worker Project. This project has been begun and an excellent appointment made, which will enable the completion of the project in six months, rather than the two years originally envisaged. The cost will also be less and we are going to contribute £1,000 rather £2,000. Kevin hopes that many local organisations will support the project so that it is seen as having wide community support.
