The Elders remembered Willie MacFarlane in prayer at the start of our meeting.
We noted that our study meetings on leadership are both useful and challenging; and of increasing importance as we will take on leadership roles more and more in the future.
We discussed a paper on our Mission Partnership and the deployment of ministers. We are making progress towards being able to call a third minister to serve the Partnership as a whole, but there is much further work and discussion before we can agree on a “job specification” for this appointment. We agreed to bring this paper to the congregational meeting and advise our members of the situation and progress made so far.
We are going to talk to “Friends and Adherents” to encourage them to become full members. We want to make the church grow and be invigorated with new ideas and active participants. Some of our “friends” are already active within the church.
We hope that the transfer of the Buchanan Bequest funds to our church can be achieved soon and the Elders resolved that, as trustees of the church, we use the bequest for purposes similar to that for which it was established:-
“The glory of God and in service to the Community”.
We will hold our Church Open Day on 21st and 22nd June and look forward to all working together to make the event as successful as our first Celebration Day last April.
We will advise the congregation at the beginning of worship when the overhead does not show the words of hymns. We will also try putting up the weekly notices on the overhead before the service begins.
It is important that people do not use the rear door to the building when the Nursery is in operation. We will get a single entry point when the project is completed; in the meantime please observe this request.
Late notices, in writing only, will be given to Fred Milligan who will make the announcements each Sunday.
Please also note that notices for inclusion in the Order of Service must be given, in writing, to Muriel Robertson by Thursday evening.
Fred Milligan, Secretary to the Elders
