With the installation of new radiator covers now completed, the first phase of the Church development project, the renovation of the hall, is now coming towards its end. The installation of the folding partitions has had to be put back until the end of the year. It was discovered that the existing wooden ceiling beams, onto which it had been planned that the partitions would be hung, were not strong enough to take the weight without bending. Therefore steel beams will be installed to do the job. Some other outstanding bits of “snagging” work will have to be delayed until the steel beams and the folding partitions have been installed.
However, the hall is now in full use both by Church members and members of the community. In particular, the Broadway Nursery, the Ballet class, Brownies and the visitors to the regular Friday Soup and Sandwiches lunches, are thrilled with the bright, colourful space that has been developed for their activities.
Fundraising for the other segments of the development project will continue, with works being carried out as and when funds permit.
Colin Scott, on behalf of the Project team.
