Blyth URC

A Church meeting at Blyth this summer agreed to a plan to vacate the whole building, church and church hall within the next two years. Several groups who use the church hall weekly - scouts, brownies, indoor bowlers, dancers and keep fit - have been asked to seek other venues. During the three years that Yvonne Tracey has been minister, the Grade 2 listed building has been the setting for 24 weddings, 10 funerals and 60 baptisms - but its upkeep is increasingly beyond the small membership. A letter detailing the decision of the church has been sent to the local authority and other interested parties, in which Yvonne says “I feel the decision made is the only realistic one for us to take and hope that by informing you as early as possible you may have some time to consider the response of the local council and community.”
